FAQ

Everything you need to manage your fleet - all in one place: Driver Safety, GPS Tracking, and ELD Compliance. The most user-friendly ELD device and application.

ELDs log several important driver status categories to ensure accurate monitoring of duty hours. These include:
OFF:The driver is off duty and not engaged in any work-related tasks.
SB (Sleeper Berth): The driver is resting or on break in the sleeper area.
D:The driver is actively driving the vehicle.
ON:The driver is on duty but not currently driving, such as during vehicle inspections or while waiting for dispatch.
Additionally, the ELD logs the driver's location (city and state) whenever there is a status change

Yes, smartphones (both Android and iPhone) and other wireless devices can be used as Electronic Logging Devices, provided they meet the technical standards set by the ELD Rule. To ensure a device qualifies, you can consult the FMCSA’s official list of registered ELDs.

An Electronic Logging Device (ELD) is a tool that automatically logs a driver's Hours of Service (HOS) and other related data. It connects directly to the vehicle’s engine to monitor engine status, vehicle movement, distance driven, and engine hours. This information can be reviewed by law enforcement through the device’s screen, printouts, or digital transfer to ensure compliance with HOS regulations.

The ELD Mandate became effective on December 18, 2017, mandating that affected drivers and carriers equip their vehicles with either an ELD or an AOBRD. However, after December 16, 2019, AOBRDs were no longer recognized as compliant, and only ELDs meet the federal regulatory requirements. Fleets continuing to use AOBRDs are currently non-compliant with the mandate.

Yes, the OnTime ELD system fully complies with the FMCSA’s Electronic Logging Device (ELD) mandate. This regulation, effective since December 18, 2017, requires drivers and carriers to use an ELD to track Hours of Service (HOS). After December 16, 2019, AOBRDs were no longer accepted. OnTime ELD meets all these requirements, ensuring your fleet remains compliant with FMCSA standards.
